How to Reach Vagamon

Vagamon doesn’t have its own airport or railway station, so getting there is part of the experience — a slow climb through rubber and tea plantations before the ghat roads begin.

By air: The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport (COK), about 100–120 km away depending on the route. From there, it’s a 3 to 3.5 hour drive by taxi or rental car.

By rail: Kottayam Railway Station is the closest major railhead, around 65 km away, and it’s well connected to most major Indian cities. Changanassery is another nearby option.

By road: If you’re driving from Kochi or Ernakulam, the route via Pala and Erattupetta takes about 3 to 4 hours. The last stretch — the Vagamon ghat road — is where the real scenery starts: hairpin bends, sudden viewpoints, and the temperature dropping a few degrees with every turn.
